Etsy Craft Party – Nottingham
Thanks to the power of Twitter I discovered, a few weeks ago that Nottingham was planning an Etsy Craft Party as part of Etsy’s global celebrations on 6th June. ‘A one day celebration of meeting and making’ sounded like an excellent way to meet creative people in my local area and spend some creative time away from my inks! Plus with the theme :‘Recapture: Bring new meaning to your photographs‘ I’d found the ideal opportunity to use a few of the vintage photos that I bought years ago!
The party was organised and run by a team of local creatives, namely Holly of Holly Booth Photography who photographed the event, Emma from Hey Emma Blue, Becky from Becky, Queen of Frocks (and Skyline UK, a company shared with her partner Tom), Georgie and Hannah from Bird in Borrowed Feathers and Rhea from Rhea Clements (and Handmade Nottingham) – who all hosted different activities and craft tables based around the theme.
I had an enjoyable afternoon, chatting to new people and getting thoroughly carried away sewing onto my vintage photograph – at only the first of the creative activity tables. Here is a photo Holly Booth took of me hard at work:
I made an envelope style clutch bag with Rhea Clements, from architectural images which I cut out of magazines and then folded into shape, covered with sticky backed plastic and finished with a crocheted button loop. I loved the opportunity to make something new whilst learning about the Nottingham creative scene, which seems to be far bigger than I initially realised. I’m really looking forward to finding out more and am hoping to visit the area again soon.
