Reportage illustrations drawn in Turkey

Possibly my favourite ever (so far! ) workshop at Unit 12 Gallery in Stafford was run by paper artist Jennifer Collier, we made experimental sketchbooks out of personal papers and I loved it! Since completing this workshop, I’ve made a few more of my own sketchbooks and decided to use them for my reportage work.

Following the hugely enjoyable reportage illustration workshop with Rachel Lille at the House of Illustration I decided to put into practice some of the techniques and ideas that I had learnt whilst I was on holiday in Turkey. I am sharing some of my favourite sketchbook pages, where I experimented with biro and watercolours. This was a bit of a first for me, I’ve never taken my paints away from my studio before – apart from the very fast watercolour drying time it was an experiment I really enjoyed.  A gorgeous location to draw always helps!
